Successful collaboration with leading R&D institutions
We are happy to report the successful completion of the "Integrated Intelligent Secure Biometrical System" project, carried out as part of the “Science for Security and Peace 2006-2010”
research program financed by the Slovenian Ministry of Defence. Spica played a leading role as project coordinator and integrator, in conjunction with Jozef Stefan Institute’s
Department of Intelligent Systems and Ljubljana University’s Faculty of Electrical Engineering’s Laboratory of Imaging Technologies. Currently the use of these intelligent methods
in support of traditional access control systems is patent pending.
The aim of the project was to realise an advanced access control solution which integrated various security technologies including biometric iris and fingerprint readers,
RFID card readers and PIN-based authorization. In addition to this, an advanced system for the automatic detection of deviations from usual behaviour patterns was developed.
It uses both manual and automated learning, and also has the capability to query against specific behaviours.
This creative partnership with other recognised Slovenian R&D institutions shows the successful leadership of our R&D centre in the development and application of advanced access
control systems; which enables us to feed industry-leading R&D achievements through into best business practice.
