Aboutt  Luxottica

Luxottica became EssilorLuxottica in 2017 through the merger of two major multinational companies, Essilor and Luxottica, which positioned the company as a leading manufacturer and distributor of vision care products and high-quality digital services in the optics segment.

The company’s portfolio includes a wide range of frames and eyewear tailored to diverse consumer needs. Present in over 150 countries, EssilorLuxottica owns some of the world’s most well-known brands in eyewear, lenses, and eye care products.

EssilorLuxottica benefits from a fully integrated approach, covering everything from research and development to the supply chain. A large production network allows the company to quickly adapt to customer requirements, and its products are available in over 300,000 stores worldwide.

Luxottica has been operating in Croatia since 2006 under the name Luxottica Southeastern Europe, d.o.o. It is headquartered in Novigrad, with branches in Romania and Bulgaria.

Continuous development and investment in business growth in Croatia have led to a significant number of employees. Today, the company employs up to 100 people in Novigrad (including branches) and is one of the most important employers in this part of Croatia.

Reducing administration and errors

As the number of employees in Croatia has grown, so has Luxottica's need to implement access control and time and attendance solutions. Spica's Time&Space (T&S) solution has eliminated the need for manual time and attendance recording. Additionally, security levels have improved through access control.

The system regulates who has access, when, and where. Moreover, the T&S solution allows for different levels of user rights. To further automate the process, the system can be linked to payroll, reducing administration, minimizing errors, and eliminating the need for manual recording.

"We have been using Spica’s solution to record time and attendance since the very beginning of our operation in Croatia. There was no question about which system to choose because Spica perfectly suited our modern way of working from the very start"  says Tanja Štokovac from the HR Department at Luxottica Southeastern Europe.

She continues,

"convenience, accuracy, and the wide range of possibilities it offers are just a few of the advantages. Everything is in one place, which is crucial for the programs we use. The customer support is fast and efficient, and thanks to their suggestion, we have also introduced clocking in via a mobile app, which has made time and attendance recording even easier.”

Time and attendance tracking with geolocation

Some employees can clock in and out (when working from home or in the field) using their mobile phones. Supervisors can easily check whether employees have clocked in or out from home or from the Luxottica office.

The geolocation of each clock-in and clock-out can also be recorded via the mobile app, allowing it to be reviewed later. It’s important to note that geolocation is not tracked continuously, but only at the time of clocking in and out.

Employees can also use their mobile phones to submit absence requests (e.g., for annual leave, days off, etc.). This helps reduce administration and paperwork while simplifying processes within the HR department.

To enhance employee safety and security, a Covid certificate scanner, integrated with the access control system, was installed at the entrance during the pandemic.

Spica’s solution also allows for the creation of various reports, including examples such as: overtime reports for specific departments or employees, reports in compliance with the Labour Act, and reports that help monitor deviations from scheduled working hours (lateness, etc.).
